Malcolm Tierney
Malcolm Tierney was born on February 25, 1938 in Manchester North, Lancashire, England, UK to Ernest Tierney (a boilermaker and draughtsman) and Agnes Tierney (née Kennedy - cotton mill worker).
As a child he attended St. Mary's Roman Catholic School in Failsworth, Oldham, then studied design at the Manchester School of Art while working as a textile designer and printmaker and was involved in dramatics at the Little Theatre in Bolton. He earned a scholarship to the Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama (with Tom Baker - Doctor Who) in Sidcup, Kent, UK in 1958.
He worked as an actor at the Mermaid Theatre, Theatre Royal, the Mayfair, Piccadilly Theatre, the Young Vic, RSC in Strateford-upon-Avon, the Aldwych, the Bristol Old Vic, the Birmingham Repertory, the Albery, and the Southwark Playhouse.
He had over 40 years acting experience.

Tierney was a lifelong, unapologetic socialist, and a hardworking trade unionist.
Tierney married Austrian artist and translator Andrea Schinko in June of 1979, they had two daughters, Elsa, and Anna. They were amicably separated, but never divorced, in 1999.
Tierney died on February 18, 2014 of pulmonary fibrosis. He was survived by his ex-wife, Andrea, his daughters, Elsa and Anna, and his siblings, John and Maureen.
