Charles Rocket
Charles Rocket (née Charles Adams Claverie) was born on August 24, 1949 in Bangor, Maine, U.S., to Sumner Abbott "Ham" Claverie and Mary Aurelia Claverie (née Folger).
In 1967, Rocket attended Rhode Island School of Design in Providence. During his school years he was in a band that was considered by many the RISD house band...he played the accordion. After the band broke up Rocket stayed in Rhode Island where, among other jobs, was one of the first bartenders at Leo's, managed a nightclub in East Providence, and reported the news at WPRI.
In 1970 Rocket married Beth Crellin on the U.S.S. Massachusetts off the coast of Fall River, Massachusetts.
He was later hired as an news anchor in Colorado Springs, Colorado, then to Nashville where he changed his name to Charles Kennedy. He auditioned for and got the part on Saturday Night Live in 1979 where he would anchor 'Weekend Update' (Rocket Reports.) By 1981 (the end of the season) Rocket said the 'F' word live on SNL. He was summarily dismissed, as were several others.
After working in New York, Rocket moved to Los Angeles, he continued acting in films and many TV shows.
Rocket died (suicide) on October 7, 2005 in Canterbury, Windham, Connecticut, U.S., he was survived by his wife, Beth, and his son, Zane.
