Thomas Hill

Thomas Newton Hill, Jr. was born on June 2, 1927 in Landour, Mussoorie, India to missionary parents, Thomas Newton Hill, Sr. (from Kansas) and Elma Alexander Hill (from Ohio).  He and his family lived in India until he was 13 years old, then returned to his parents' home state of Indiana.

Hill attended co-ed international Christian Woodstock School until he was 13, when he and his family moved back to Indiana, he then attended and graduated from Richmond High School, in Richmond, IN.  From there Hill entered Oberlin College in the Navy's V12 program (designed to supplement commissioned officers during WWII) and graduated in 1948. He furthered his education at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland where he earned an MFA and did graduate work at Yale School of Drama, Carnegie Tech, University of Washington, and Portland State College...all under the G.I. Bill.

Hill was a founding member of the Storefront Actors Theatre in Portland, Oregon with his then wife, and SWAD actress, Anne Gerety. 

Hill retired from acting in 2003 and settled in Bloomington, IN.

Hill died on April 20, 2009.

At one time Hill was a song lyric writer.

1970 - He and then wife Anne Gerety were fired from their teaching positions as theater professors at PSU for refusing to pass through campus picket lines protesting the Kent State shooting.
