Ira Friedman
Ira Friedman was born around 1954 in New York, to Mr. and Mrs. Howard W. Friedman. Friedman's father was chairman and the chief executive at Amrep Corporation, real-estate developers in New York.
Friedman graduated from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
Friedman initially worked for Lucasfilm in the publishing area back when half their company was located in North Hollywood (The Egg Company) starting in 1980, just prior to the release of The Empire Strikes Back. Later that year the company changed and the Southern California office was no longer needed. Friedman was invited to stay with the company and wanted to but decided that he would return to his home state of New York and start his own publishing company. His first project was publishing the Blade Runner movie magazine but he's published many movie magazines since then.
In 1988 Friedman joined the Topps Company, Brooklyn, NY and became the director of new product development there shortly thereafter. In 1991 he became an officer of the company and is now the Divisional Vice President.
He married Mara Goldstein in 1990.
