Fisher, Carrie

Carrie Fisher

Carrie Frances Fisher was born on  October 26, 1956, in Beverly Hills, CA to Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher.  Carrie started appeared nightly with her mother on Vegas stages at age twelve.  And by the time she was 15 she had left high school to pursue acting.  By sixteen she was in the chorus of the Broadway revival of Irene, which starred her mother. In 1973, Fisher enrolled at London's Central School of Speech and Drama where she studied for eighteen months, then studied at Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Carrie's public life was full of drama starting from when she was very young.  She had a reputation for being a bit of a party girl and subsequently had to receive treatment for drug addiction in 1998. That was a turning point in her life which allowed her to turn out a great novel called, "Postcards From the Edge" which later became a well-received film.  Carrie became known as a talented script doctor and writer and worked on many shows, including the Academy Awards.

Carrie Fisher was married to Paul Simon (1983 - div) - which spawned the book "Surrender the Pink" - and had a daughter, Billie Catherine (b. 1993) by Bryan Lourd (who left her for another man). Carrie has a brother, Todd Fisher; two half-sisters Joely Fisher and Tricia Leigh Fisher, and is the half-sister-in-law of Christopher Duddy (Director of Photography for Thirteen Days).

Ms. Fisher died on December 27, 2016, after suffering a heart attack on a flight, her mother, Debbie Reynolds, died on December 28, 2016. They will both be missed. ❤

Miscellany
2007 - Maxim.com poll - All time favorite nerd crush: Princess Leia

Owned a small parcel of land on the Moon.

Was once considered for the role of Betty Rizzo in the film production of Grease. That role ultimately went to Stockard Channing who was most recently seen as Abbey Bartlet on West Wing.

James Blunt (musician) recorded some demos (including the song Goodbye My Lover) for his new album "Back to Bedlam" in Ms. Fisher's bathroom:
From MSNBC: Rumor has it that you recorded “Goodbye My Lover” in actress Carrie Fisher’s bathroom in Los Angeles. How did that come about?
I met her through my ex-girlfriend, and I rented a room off Carrie. She had an upright piano in her bathroom, though really it does not take up too much room. We did not have the right kind of piano in the studio, and “Goodbye My Lover” is a very special song and to try and get back to the meaning of the song, I wanted to get out of the studio. Late at night we set up a studio in the bathroom, and we got into the song more. I was over the moon with the outcome.

2005 - The Sun (Sexiest Ever Super Heroine poll) #8 (as Princess Leia) at %5 of the votes.

Was once engaged to Dan Akroyd.

Was once saved from choking (on a Brussels Sprout) by Dan Akroyd.

The character of Princess Leia (played by Carrie Fisher) was named 4th sexiest Sci-Fi Babe by movie magazine Film Review
