Fell, Stuart

Stuart Fell

Stuart Fell was born (1942) in Morecambe, Lancashire, but the family moved around a lot because his father was in the Royal Air Force during WWII. During his childhood, there were several schools he attended who had good gymnastics programs which Fell took and excelled.
Fell had originally tried to start in the film industry but did not have enough experience so he started a career as an electronics tester. It wasn't long before he tired of working indoors. So, in the early 60s, he joined the British Army Airborne Infantry where he was in the Parachute Regiment (Paras) where he was made a Physical Training instructor. Fell was sent to Borneo (10-day patrols due to Indonesian President Sukarno's threats of invasion in the region) where he learned a great deal in training about modern weapons, climbing, underwater swimming, etc.
After the Army, he became a training instructor and gymnastics coach and made a second attempt at entering the film/TV industry as a stuntman. It was suggested to him that rather than trying to enter the industry as a stunt performer (which is difficult) he should try as a tumbler. This got his foot in the door and in a short amount of time with some experience behind him he became a stuntman.
