Camp, Hamilton

Hamilton Camp

Hamilton Camp was born on October 30, 1934 in London, England, UK.

Camp started acting when he was a child, but was much more well-known as a folk singer in the early sixties and was part of Gibson & Camp (Bob Camp then) which created Gibson and Camp at the Gate of Horn album.  They were a duo for a short time but they made a lasting and groundbreaking impression on the folk world and continued to sing together over the course of the following thirty years.  Camp also continues singing at venues throughout the world.  Camp returned to acting around this time with the Second City crew in Chicago and The Committee in San Francisco.

The sixties brought film, theatre, and TV work and entrance to Subud (spiritual community - Susila Budhi Dharma) and was known as Hamid Hamilton Camp briefly.

Camp passed away of heart failure on October 2, 2005 in Hancock Park, CA.  Camp's wife, Rasjadah Jovita Camp, passed away in 2002.  They are survived by six children and thirteen grandchildren.

I'd like to thank Mr. Ray Camp (son of Hamilton and Rasjadah) for graciously correcting a mistake in information.
